How to Fuel Your Business
“Hey everybody, this is Scott Theaman from Beyond Marketing talking to you about how to develop your business and market effectively. Today, I’m going to talk to you about fueling your business. Now let me ask you a question. When you drive to work every day and you eventually run out of gas, would you ever negotiate with putting more gas in your car? Or what about its lunchtime and you’re hungry and you need sustenance and you don’t want to die, so you’ve got to eat food, right? Would you negotiate with going a week or a few days without a meal? And then what if you’re camping in the woods and you’re making a campfire and the fire starts to die down. Would you negotiate with adding wood to the fire to fuel that fire? You see, what all these things have in common is they need fuel. You need gas in your car, you need food in your belly and you need wood on the fire.
So if you’ve been running your TMS or ketamine clinic just from referrals, that’s amazing. That’s great. But it’s different, it’s not the same as fuel. You see, we need fuel. And when we talk about fueling your business, we’re talking about team development and we’re talking about marketing and advertising dollars. Now there’s a lot of people who will waste your fuel, who will burn it. It’ll go up in smoke and it’s no good. So you need to find people who know what they’re doing so you can maximize the mileage you get from your fuel. But you also need to reframe your paradigm here, because if you truly want to grow your business, if you truly want to help more people get out of depression and you truly want to help people get off of these antidepressants, you need fuel. You need to buy attention. Fuel is going to buy attention, and fuel is going to develop your team so that you can enroll more people into care and really help them.
If you’re not fueling your body, your car, your campfire, you’re done. You die. If you’re not fueling your business, it’s going to be the same thing. These big companies, these big MSOs, they’re spending hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars on fuel, on developing their team with training. Fueling that, and on marketing, developing and buying attention on social and on search. I implore you to take a different perspective to your business. This paradigm shift, you should be taking 10% of revenue and reinvesting it into fueling the beast.
